The San Diego Coalition for the Homeless is a nonprofit charitable corporation that provides hope and help to needy individuals and families in our city. Dedicated San Diegans from all walks of life volunteer their time and money to help the homeless fight hunger, provide temporary shelter, find employment and refer them to agencies who can provide for special needs. Although we are faith-based, faith is not a requirement for us to assist where needed. We do not refuse services to any persons or discriminate against them due to ethnicity, religion or any reason whatsoever.

FIELD OFFICE
The San Diego Coalition for the Homeless has provided services to the homeless and needy in our community since 1979. Our outreach location is at the basement of the Church of the Nazarene-Mid-City at 4101 University Avenue in San Diego. We serve the homeless at this location by:

* Feeding the Hungry;
* Providing clothing, shoes, blankets and other materials on hand;
* Issuing vouchers for temporary housing;
* Supervising probationers who volunteer for community service hours;
* Referring persons with special needs to social service agencies;
* Participating with the San Diego Food Bank to distribute supplemental food and commodities through the federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program to approximately 300 families for a total of over 1,000 individuals on the first Friday of each month;
* Stocking our private pantry with food and other items for any persons who need emergency food;
* Helping distribute bread and available produce on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays;
* Working to facilitate the use of food stamps.

Our office is open Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 9:00 to noon on Saturdays. There are no paid employees and all work is done by volunteers. Please call 619-281-1815 and/or 619-401-4043 to schedule donation deliveries.
